My Drift Map

Sanding

I decided that I would cut through some residential neighborhoods to see what sounds I might hear. There were alot of dogs barking and crickets, and i did record some of that, but then I heard a man who was using a woodfile to sand the railing of his deck. I began recording in front of his next door neighbors house. While I was recording, the neighbors came out of their house. They didn't pay any attention to me, instead they just went around to the back of the house. A short burst of music blasted from an unknown location.

For the second time on my journey, I found myself by the river. The Holton Bridge has a walking path that goes underneath it so I walked out to the half way point and began my recording. I felt bad for all the people who have to try and sleep under bridges because the sound of the cars driving by over head was thunderous.

I noticed a ringing noise while passing a series of electrical boxes that were attached to a brick building off of Holton. What intrigued me about the noise was that it was hard to distinguish from which electrical box the sound originated.

Recess

On my drift walk over by Brady and Humbolt, I came across a school yard that wasn't much more than a single jungle gym that looked as if it were about to fall over. The kids who were playing at recess didn't seem to mind or care. They played some sort of game with eachother that reminded me of playing tag in my elementary days.

Bowling

I sat outside my dorms one evening during a thunder storm and made a recording of the thunder. I enjoy a good thunder storm and wanted to get a raw recording of what i used to believe was the angels bowling in heaven.
